Jean, or Iwan Basilowitz

Grand Duke of Muscory during the fourteenth century. He fell into terrible swoons at the point of death and his soul made toilsome journeys. He was first tormented for having kept innocent people prisoner in dungeons, and then he was tormented further for having ground them under heavy tasks. He dies during the third voyage, and his body vanished before his burial. Many thought that the devil had taken him.
