Abaris was a famous magician and a Scythian high priest of Apollo. He chanted Apollo's praises so well that he was given a golden arrow that enabled him to soar through the air like a bird. Because of this the Greeks called him the Aerobate. When his pupil Pythagoras robbed the arrow from him, he achieved many wonderful things with its help. Abaris was able to predict the future, see storms coming, cure disease and survive without food or drink. He used Pelop's bones to create a statue of Minerva and he sold it to the Trojans.
